AmFirst is excited to announce that our 2023 Feeding Families Across Alabama Food Drive has kicked off!
We will accept both food items and monetary donations from Monday, July 3 through Monday, July 31 at each of our 21 branches.
All donations collected at our Central Alabama branches will benefit the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama and will be distributed to local food banks across Alabama. The donations collected at our Mobile branch will benefit the Love All Pantry.
As the school year wraps up and children are out for the summer break, it’s important now more than ever for the pantries to be refilled, as millions of children will miss meals they’d normally receive at school.
Boxes will be placed inside the branch lobbies for you to drop off nonperishable food items, and monetary donations are also welcome. If you are in the Central Alabama region, you’ll need to make your check payable to the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama. Likewise, you’ll need to make your check payable to the Love All Pantry if you’re in the Mobile area.
The most needed food items are as follows:
- Canned goods
- Cereal / Oatmeal / Grits
- Dried or canned beans
- Pasta and pasta sauce
- Brown or white rice
- Peanut butter and jelly
NOTE: Please do not include glass items.
The Community Food Bank of Central Alabama feeds more than 60,000 children, seniors, veterans, and neighbors at risk of hunger. They do this by supplying 10 million meals a year to 230 food pantries, shelters, and children’s programs. The Community Food Bank provides service for 12 counties in Central Alabama: Blount, Calhoun, Cherokee, Clay, Cleburne, Etowah, Jefferson, Shelby, St. Clair, Talladega, Walker, and Winston.
The Love All Food Pantry shares food with more than 900 families a week. Typically, a family will receive between 40-50 pounds of meats, grains, dairy, and fruits and fruits and vegetables.
