Happy New Year!
We’d like to thank each and every one of our members for choosing AmFirst as your credit union.
Many things have changed over the last twelve months, such as our new face mask requirement at all AmFirst branches and the cancellation of several events like Take Me To Indy.
What has not changed, however, is our commitment to serving our members and the community. Below is a list of highlights and accomplishments from this past year:
Toy drive collects hundreds of toys for local children
We partnered with CBS 42 and City of Birmingham Mayor’s Office Division of Youth Services to host a toy drive benefiting local families this holiday season. Thanks to your help and generosity, hundreds of children in the area received a present and a new reason to smile.
Two new branches open
AmFirst opened two new branch locations in 2020. We are proud to add Calera and Pell City to the communities we currently serve.
Local couple marries at AmFirst’s Gardendale branch
The courthouses may have been shut down at the time, but one engaged Alabama couple still found a way to improvise. Jennifer and Jacob Lindsey held their wedding inside of our Gardendale branch earlier this year. Congratulations again to the happy couple!
Food drive benefits local families in need
AmFirst was proud to partner with ABC 33/40, The CW 21, and My 68 WABM during the month of July to host a food drive benefiting Community Food Bank of Central Alabama. With your help, we collected $25,675 in donations and 20,672 food items for the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama and other local agencies.
Mike Northrup receives ORBIE Award
AmFirst is proud to announce that our very own Mike Northrup was announced as the 2020 winner of the Alabama CIO of the Year Award. Mike is the Senior Vice President and Chief Delivery Systems Officer of Information Technology at AmFirst. The ORBIE Awards recognize Chief Information Officers all over the country.
AmFirst President and CEO Bill Connor celebrates 40th anniversary
Our President and CEO Bill Connor celebrated his 40th year of service with AmFirst on October 27! He first started out working in our mailroom, eventually working his way up over the years. Congratulations again, Bill! We are so grateful for your leadership.
AmFirst receives CUNA’s Louise Herring Award
AmFirst has been selected as the recipient of the Credit Union National Association’s Louise Herring Award for 2020! We were chosen for this award for our team’s efforts to serve members in response to the COVID -19 Crisis at all levels – individual member, business, and community.
Closing Thoughts
Although 2020 was a difficult year for all of us, we wish you a happier, healthier 2021. Thank you again from all of us at AmFirst for choosing us as your credit union.
